Our motivation

Six decades and three generations inspire us to make our company fit for challenges that can already be anticipated. It is clear to us that sustainability issues are primarily about risk management and not, or not only, about operational ecology.

Doing nothing or a “business as usual” approach is not an option for us. Sustainability is not a state, sustainability is more of a process.

Our strategy

Our sustainability strategy pursues a holistic approach that focuses on economic, social and ecological aspects, integrating the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations (SDGs) and the EU Green Deal as guiding principles. Our sustainability strategy is a continuous process based on responsibility and innovation. We will continuously monitor, evaluate and adapt our efforts for sustainable development to ensure that we make a positive contribution to society, the environment and the global community. Our sustainability activities are described in our report according to the German Sustainability Code.

Economy

We strive to promote economic stability and growth by increasing the efficiency of our business processes, promoting innovation and supporting responsible corporate practices. We invest in the training and further education of our employees to ensure a qualified workforce while promoting equal opportunities. The goal is to create long-term value for our company and our stakeholders.

Ecology

Protecting the environment is a high priority for us. We are committed to minimizing negative impacts on the environment, using resources efficiently and promoting renewable energy sources. Our production processes are continuously optimized to reduce waste and minimize emissions. We are committed to preserving biodiversity and are actively involved in initiatives to reduce CO2 emissions.

Social

We are committed to promoting social justice and creating an inclusive working environment. This includes ensuring fair working conditions, which promote diversity and inclusion. We support local communities through social initiatives and continuously work to improve the quality of life for our employees and their families.

Implementation of the SDGs

We strive to integrate the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations into our business strategy and actively contribute to the achievement of these global goals. This includes measures for climate protection, health promotion, education promotion, gender equality and in many other areas.

EU Green Deal

We support the EU Green Deal and are committed to achieving the goals for climate neutrality, clean energy, circular economy and the preservation of biological diversity. We are working to adapt our business practices to the requirements of the EU Green Deal and actively participate in initiatives to achieve these goals.

German Sustainability Code

The German Sustainability Code (DNK) is a guide for German companies and organizations that helps them to transparently communicate their sustainability performance. It contains criteria for evaluating and disclosing ecological, social and economic activities and promotes sustainability reporting, comparison between companies and sustainable business practices. The aim is to implement the sustainability goals and increase transparency towards stakeholders. We have been reporting according to the DNK for the first time since 2023.

Ökoprofit

Ökoprofit is an environmental program that is well established in many German cities and regions as well as internationally. The program supports companies in implementing environmentally friendly measures and practices in their operations. Through training, consulting and the exchange of best practices, companies are enabled to increase resource efficiency, reduce energy consumption and improve waste management. Ökoprofit promotes sustainable business management and brings ecological and economic benefits for the participating companies and the environment. In 2023, we were awarded as an Ökoprofit company for the first time.

EcoVadis

EcoVadis aims to evaluate and improve the sustainability performance of companies and their suppliers. The platform enables companies to gain a holistic view of the ecological, social and ethical aspects of their supply chain. By conducting sustainability assessments and creating reports, EcoVadis helps companies identify risks in their supply chains, promote responsible business practices and achieve sustainability goals. We are proud to have received a bronze award in 2025.

A selection of our current measures

Drinking water dispenser

Since 2021, we have implemented drinking water dispensers for all employees. In addition to access to clean and healthy drinking water, this measure saves us around 1.25 tons of CO₂ per year.

Installation of a heat pump

In 2022, a new production hall was built to the highest ecological standards. This is heated and cooled exclusively by a heat pump

Digitization of processes

Many process flows are still very paper-based. With our “machine connection” project, we have set ourselves the goal of establishing paperless processes. In 2023, we started with the gradual implementation.

Reforestation

In 2023, we carried out a reforestation program with our employees, in which we planted a total of 600 trees in our directly adjacent forest. This measure had a positive impact on both our team and the environment.

LED lighting

As part of this measure, a total of approx. 1100 light sources will be replaced by energy-efficient LED lamps. The replacement takes place in stages, with some of the light sources already successfully replaced. This allows us to significantly reduce costs and energy consumption.
In addition, we have been purchasing green electricity since 2024.

Circular economy

Through optimized collection and separation of our production waste in the form of film residues, we can return it to closed cycles.
